At the start of January, my husband and I decided to choose an animal card for the year. This isn’t a ritual we do every year, some years we’ve pulled multiple cards and sometimes none. Sometimes a year has a feeling or a word. But this year we each drew a card. And I got a horse.

My first reaction was excitement – there I was with this horse card in my hand. In the Chinese Zodiac, I am a horse, and 2026 is the year of the fire horse. So that’s three horses. I then shifted from excitement to fear – because three horses sounded ominous – either really good or really bad!
Certainly, there is a pattern within me here that is old – holding space for excitement but moving to fear that something bad is going to happen, and that was a piece for me to acknowledge and consider. Did I want to reflect on the meaning of this card from a place of a wound or a place of groundedness?
In a state of fear, it’s tricky to listen to intuition, so I went to the Oracle of Google 😆. When I googled “three horses”, it was all good things – apparently a photo of three horses is really great Feng Shui for strength, speed, & success.
And then I quieted and grounded and spent some time with what the meaning was for me.
Power = Aligning Hara
Horses represent power – and power can be felt in many ways. There is the quiet inner power, there is physical power, there is charismatic power and emotional power to name a few.
For me power is aligning Hara. It is staying connected to the earth & the divine amidst all the turbulence in the emotional field around us. It is pausing to notice whether I want to get caught in all the noise. This is my three horses – connecting to me, the earth & the divine.

Fire = Core Star
After anchoring in your Hara, we can then stay grounded as we expand our core star. A place where we burn bright and clear. When I am in this place, the emotional noise & mind chatter quiet – I can feel their presence, but they are not the parts of me that are leading.
When I am anchored in Hara & Core Star, this settles my nervous system into a place of Safety. This then impacts those around me in a positive way – people are also more likely to be able to go into this place, if I am there too.

Getting Caught in the Chatter
In the New Age world, there is a lot of chatter about what the year of the fire horse means. You can read and watch hours of content on this topic. There is a flavour of “end of times” or seeing this point of time as a major transition point in the world. Outside of the New Age world, the energy can be full of fear and hopelessness.
This may be a point of transition, but notice what happens in your mind and body when you get caught in the fear-based chatter. Do you stay anchored within yourself or do you get caught in fear, distraction and rabbit holes on the internet?
Instead, anchor in Hara & expand your Core Star. In this place, you add to a layer of collective power. This is a quiet, grounded, expansive place.
Notice the impact on you and your internal dialogue & emotions from this place.
Notice the impact on the others in your life when you connect with them from this place instead of fear or any internal stories you have. If action needs to be taken, choose it from this place.
