And onward we go – did you know the topic was going to be clair-cognizance today?
Today we enter the realm of psychics & mediums – clear knowing.
This is probably one of the most wide-spread sixth sense skills (in my opinion). Let’s play a game – poll your friends & family about a time they:
- Knew something was going to happen before it did, or
- Knew they should take a different travel route than usual or
- Made a random decision without any research on the topic – purely on instinct and it had a positive impact for them.
Perhaps they knew whether a team would win a sports game, or whether a loved one had passed away before getting the call. Maybe it was to make a big life decision without research or take a different travel route (with positive results). Maybe it was that moment of ignoring that gut instinct and regretting that decision later.
I remember a time my Mom told me that she had an instinct she was going to have a bad reaction to anaesthesia at the Dentist’s office and she did. She’d had anaesthesia many times before without issue. My Dad knew when a loved one had passed and phoned home on our vacation (back before cell-phones), and we ended our trip early. Neither of my parents would profess to be psychics or have those abilities, but yet they both shared moments of clair-cognizance.
Subtle Signs
Have you had these experiences?
You knew something was going to happen before it did.
You knew information about a person that they had never shared.
You’ve had an instinct about a situation that didn’t make any logical sense.
You’ve had an instinct about a romantic relationship and whether that person was a fit for you or not.
You’ve had an instinct that you needed to live in a certain place for no logical reason.
You’ve had an instinct about one of your past-lives and what that means for this life.
How to Attune to This Ability
There is no one path to attune to each of these abilities. But here are a few ways to play with this ability.
1. Play with tarot cards or card deck of your choice. Do a reading on yourself or someone else. Practice this regularly.
2. Find another person and share one personal physical item (like jewellery, clothing or object with meaning) with the other person. Close your eyes and set the intention to connect with stories, meanings, emotions related to this item. After 5 minutes, share with one another what you noticed.
3. Ask a question to the universe “should i stay in this job or leave it?” “should i spend money on ____ right now?” “what is my next step in ___<situation>___”. Then go for a walk and note the first 3 things that capture your attention. Write them down and let the meaning come to you over the next few days.
Real-life Examples
Psychotherapists
I’ve met more than one psychotherapist who knew something about a client even though the information hadn’t been shared with them, only for the information to be confirmed by the client during a session. Perhaps it comes with the territory of spending so much time in presence with people. I’ve had a variety of types of clair-cognizance with clients – sometimes a piece of information about a person, sometimes to say something specific to a person, sometimes a piece of a person’s intake information stands out for no particular reason. These knowings tend to be helpful as I work with a person.
Professionals working with People
Many people in the medical field also have clair-cognizance. I met a surgeon who could just look at an x-ray and know more things about the person’s condition than met the eye. I met another doctor who had an instinct about different flower essences and how they might support a patient or peer or procedure with positive results.
Famous life coach Martha Beck had an experience under anaesthesia where she was crying during the procedure. She connected with her anaesthetist afterwards and he said, “well, I was going to give you more medication, and then a voice said, don’t do that. She’s crying because she’s happy.” He was worried that he made the wrong decision and that he should’ve given her more anaesthetic because she might’ve been crying due to pain. Martha shared that he’d made the right decision.
Practice Not Perfection
If you’re interested in expanding this skill, an interesting path would be to take a course or workshop on reading tarot cards, on how to expand your psychic abilities, or medium-ship (connecting with those who have passed away).
We can all improve these abilities with some intentional practice. I’ve played with tarot cards and enjoy this method of clair-cognizance. I haven’t been drawn to medium-ship, but admire the famous medium Tyler Henry (who has a show on Netflix).
Tell me about a time you had a clear knowing about something?
