Recently I heard the phrase, “Sometimes a week happens in years and sometimes a year happens in weeks”. Sometimes we feel that ourselves and sometimes we witness this in the world.
I’ve been looking at the media & social media and I reflected on what I wanted to say about it all. The most helpful thing for me has been watching people connect to their heart amidst it all. If you’re in the thick of it and can’t do that right now, I get that. For you today there is no demand to do so or any judgment about this.
If you know someone being impacted by world events, reach out to them and check in. If you are someone feeling the impact of world events, see if you can find it within yourself to ask one person for support right now. Presence is a powerful gift.
Today I’m going to be brief. First I’m going to give you my heart connection meditation – something for everyone no matter which emotional state you are in.
Second, I’m going to share a few things I’ve enjoyed watching or reading that have been heart-warming/connecting for me.

These are a few Heart-warming Things
- Movie: Mr: Dress-up: The Magic of Make Belief (Prime) This one might be for the Canadians in the group. If you were a kid in Canada between 1965-1995, you likely watched the kids show, Mr. Dress-Up. Recently, a documentary was made about him. What a delight it was to watch a documentary that confirms that the man was every bit as heart-centred as he appeared. I loved learning that even in 1965 the writers & producers were committed to creating a show without sexism or racism.
- Movie: My Octopus Teacher (Netflix) I think I’ve mentioned this one before, but it’s good enough to be repeated. This documentary follows the healing journey of a man in South Africa as he becomes friends with an Octopus in the wild.
- Show: Heartstopper (Netflix) This show follows the journey of Nick & Charlie – 2 boys in highschool who start a relationship.
- Book: Tom Lake (Ann Patchett) If you’re a reader, this is a beautiful story of a woman telling her adult daughters about that time she dated someone who was now a very famous actor. It’s during the pandemic on a cherry farm in Michigan.
