Today it’s all about the element of space, and how fitting to start with the eclipse. Thank you to those who shared about their eclipse experiences. For those of you who witnessed the event on April 8th, I hope it was fantastic! I was fortunate to see it with mostly clear skies after a full morning of rain and clouds. I don’t know if I’ll ever see one again in my lifetime! The photo above is from that day.
Space & Time
When I was at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing (BBSH), one of my teachers always used the phrase, “You have 20 spacious minutes to do this energy healing”. This phrase helped me shift from the mind’s response of, “Only 20 minutes!!” to allowing 20 minutes to be exactly what was needed. This is something I’ve carried to all sorts of places in my life. What if I allow this amount of time to be exactly what I need?
Quantum physics has shown us that time is malleable. Every once in awhile I play with this in my life when either I’m feeling rushed and need to take a minute, or if I need more time than my linear mind has calculated that I need.
Do you ever play with time?
Songs to Feel Your Spaciousness
As part of BBSH, we had to do an art project each year. This could be in material form, or it could be a performance. Also part of every week I went to the school, one of the teachers organized an early morning ecstatic dance, which I adored. It always started with laying on the ground and moving the energy upward into our day ahead.
For the last year of the program in 2016 I led the ecstatic dance and my theme was to take people out to space and back. I searched for my playlist and found it! A miracle. As I re-listened to this playlist I had all the feels of spaciousness & bliss. And yes I had my own dance party too.
Here’s the playlist:
- Gaia: Michael Brant DeMaria
- Space Oddity: David Bowie
- Comptine d’un autre été: Yann Tiersen (movie Amelie)
- Cornfield Chase: Hans Zimmer (movie Interstellar)
- Good Morning: will.i.am
- Sing: Ed Sheeran
- Wildest Dreams: Taylor Swift
- A Sky Full of Stars: Coldplay
- Delibes: Lakmé, Act 1: “Dome épais, le jasmin”
- Fly High/Om Shree Rama: Miten, Deva Premal
If you’re inspired to have your dance party, I encourage you to listen to this by starting on the ground and seeing where your body and spirit want to take you from there.
If you’ve ever seen the movie, Men Who Stare At Goats, there’s a wonderful moment at the start with George Clooney’s character telling Ewan McGregor, that the method he uses to lean into the spaciousness of remote viewing, was to have a beer and listen to the band Boston’s More Than A Feeling.
Whatever works right? Also a great movie to watch/book to read if you haven’t yet 🙂
What songs do you enjoy that lead you to feeling spacious, bliss or a connection to something much more expansive than your physical body?
What are other methods that help you connect to your spaciousness? Breath-work? Psychedelics? Being in nature?
